For the Cause of Christ!

Academy International Cambodia was able to start the new school year last September 12.  Our students were very excited to be back in their Learning Center.  While our numbers are down compared to pre-pandemic enrollment, we are glad to have some of our old students back together with several new ones.  Please pray for the salvation of our new students and also for their families.  Please help pray also for more teachers who are committed to reaching children and their families through Christian education.

Looking Forward to the Future!

All our children at Power of Grace Children’s Home are back to regular school work too.  We have 7 students who are preparing to take the National Examinations for Senior High School.  It is quite stressful for them as the exams have been delayed more than two time already.  Please pray for these children as they take their tests and as they look forward to whatever the Lord has laid in store for their future.  We want to thank you all who have participated in taking care of these children through your gifts and prayers.

CBBC Gradutation 2022

COVID 19 did a score on most of us.  Cambodia Baptist Bible College has had all kinds of teaching and learning experiments to cope with the disruptions and interruptions.  We were unable to hold graduations for school years 2020 and 2021.  We lost all incoming first year students for those 2 years too !  However, we praise God and we are very thankful that this time we were able to hold graduation ceremonies last July 4.  Missionary Edu Tamayo, our Academic Dean and Bro. Sovanna Phok, our Registrar and Office Manager, are to be commended for their patience and flexibility in navigating the restrictive environment caused by the pandemic.  Our Missionaries and Pastors who helped teach their respective subjects are much appreciated as well.  Thanks to Pastor Roy Montero for giving a challenging message during the graduation ceremony.

Christian Paul's Baptism!

Christian Paul is married to Michelle, our niece, who's employed as a teacher here in Phnom Penh.  He claims to have trusted the Lord as his personal Savior way back.  After several conversations about the Bible and other important subjects, he presented himself at church for baptism a few weeks ago.  This led us to some more conversations and discussions.  Paul was finally baptized at Grace Baptist Church last June 5.

25 Years of Life and Ministry in Cambodia

While it doesn't seem to be that long ago since we first got here in 1997, physical evidences both in our bodies and in our environment does say it clearly that it's been that long!  We give all the praises and glory to God for the guidance, safekeeping and provisions for these many years.  We only have Him to thank for all the trials and victories and the fruits that remain.  We also greatly appreciate everyone of you who have been our prayer partners, supporters and encouragers in this amazing journey.

It was real heart-warming experience to see many of the very first Cambodian (once) young people who were among the very first fruits of our Gospel ministry come celebrate with us last May 28!

Wow!  Glory to God for a quarter of a century of life and ministry here in Cambodia!

New Addition to the Tribe!

A precious bundle of joy, Zechariah Koa Balois Valdez was born to Paul John and Ruth Bernadette last May 20, 2022.  We praise the Lord for our second grandson and 3rd grandchild!  Our tribe is increasing slowly and we would like to have more grandchildren if the Lord allows us to have more.  What makes Koa special is that his Mom and Dad are both here with us in Phnom Penh.  Paul John works as our School Coordinator at Academy International Cambodia while Ruth Bernadette teaches in private school but comes to AIC to teach music and Filipino Language during her free time.

It's a blessing for Daisy and myself to have one of our grandkids here nearby.  As grandparents, we look forward to spoiling this boy!

GBC @ 22

We praise the Lord for His great mercies upon us!  Despite Covid 19, lockdowns, quarantines, vaccinations and boosters life must go on.  Babies are born, people get sick and die!  The most important need remains the same; God's love and grace through His Son, Jesus Christ!

We were able to celebrate our church anniversary on May 1, 2022.  Missionary to Laos, Srim Sara was our special speaker for the occasion and he blessed with a powerful encouragement on the theme: God is Greater!  Yes, God is much greater than all the present cares and worries we are bombarded with on a day to day basis.

Moving Up!

We want to congratulate 4 of our children at Power of Grace Children’s Home who graduated from high school and passed the national exams for college and university eligibility with excellent marks.  It is a very heartwarming thing to see these children who were brought to our place when they were very young and now able to continue their schooling and have a better chance for a much brighter future ahead of them.  We sincerely appreciate all who have helped in supporting these children both in prayers and in finances.

Back to Some Normal!

On-site school activities have resumed at Academy International Cambodia.  However, school attendance has been reduced to less than 50% the size pre-pandemic.  Still, we are blessed to be able to see many of the children back and especially blessed to see many of them growing in the knowledge of the Lord and using their God-given skills and talents to serve the Lord in school and in the churches they attend.
