Game-changing Status!

Last September we finally were able to visit our home in Baguio and were able to see and hold our grandson, Khong, for the very first time.  It is quite a feeling to realize that we are indeed grandparents and that the white hairs on our heads are thus validated.  Thank you very much for your prayers for our family.  Our family continues to be well because of your unceasing prayers and unselfish care for us.

New Mission Work!

Last August 2014, Grace Baptist Church - Phnom Penh commissioned Bro. Theoun Sona (We call him John.) to start a new ministry at a community called Phearm on an island on the Mekong River.  Brother John used to be in our church downtown came back recently to church after being sick for a prolonged period of time.  Prior to being sick, Bro. John  already had a Bible study with several young people and a handful of adults.  Being sick he has not seen these people for over 2 years.  He thought these people must have forgotten him and they thought the same about him.  When he went to visit he was surprised that the people were still very receptive of him and wanted him to go back.  Taking that as an indication of the Lord’s leading, he decided to go back with the full intention of starting a new church in the area.  Please pray for Bro. John as he still has some minor health issues.  He has a wife and a 9 year old son.  They need very much our prayers and some financial support.

CBBC Graduation 2014

Last July 4 marked a special milestone in the life of 7 of our students at Cambodia Baptist Bible College.  On that day, 6 men and 1 lady walked the platform to receive their diplomas for having satisfactorily completed the academic requirements for graduation prescribed by CBBC.
It is always a joyous occasion to witness the progress and growth of young believers from barely knowing anything about God's Word to being able to minister the Word to their own people.
What makes this particular event so special is the graduation of Bro. Long Somalayn.  Bro. Somalayn (more known as Malayn) is the second boy from our Power of Grace Children's Home who graduated from Bible College.  Please pray for Bro. Malayn as he will be helping us not only in our Children's Ministries but also in our day school and other church outreaches.

Khong Is Here! (I'm A Certified Grandpa Now!)

I am about to celebrate my 51st birthday in a few days!  I must be real old now. Daisy will always be 1 year, 1 month and 1 week younger than me!  To decorate such an achievement into advancing years, the Lord has blessed us with our very first and at the moment, one-and-only, grandson.  Timothy Joseph Valdez II, whom we fondly call Khong, was born on May 15, 2014 to our eldest son TJ and Maean our daughter in law.  It just sucks that we do not get to hold and hug him until towards the end of September but we are thankful to the Lord that both baby and his Mom are healthy.
On the humorous side, I find it amusing that people say Khong is cute and looks like his grandpa (that's me).  Well, when all our 3 sons were just newly born, perhaps over a hundred times, people were saying; "Oh he's so cute he looks like his daddy!  If these boys were cute and all looked like Daddy, then how come nobody ever told me I am cute too!
